The great big party that is Alt Summit

This past winter, Audrey (French Knot Studios) attended Alt Summit, a conference for bloggers out in SLC, and came home raving about it.  I fell in love with all the amazing creative cards she brought home and the incredible swag.  I also desperately wanted to be a part of the Alt Tribe – the group of besties she made while there.  That on top of 3 days of learning and connecting with other creative professionals – I knew I had to go.  We got our chance sooner than we expected as Alt Summit decided to open up a summer event on top of the always sold out winter one.  I bought my ticket right away!

In the months leading up to the event, Tiny Prints – the wonderful stationary company that we all know and love (or at least should!) reached out to us to collaborate with them during Alt.  The very first night, each sponsor was responsible for hosting a dinner to welcome Alt attendees, offer a intimate setting for getting to know yous and a bonus opportunity to connect with a major national brand.  Thanks to Tiny Prints, we were assured seats at their dinner & were able to showcase our talents – Audrey styled the dinner perfectly and I of course took pictures!  We enjoyed an intimate, delicious French meal at The Paris surrounded by lovely pink florals & lots of beautiful Tiny Prints designs – Audrey used the invite below as her inspiration and decorated the table with lots of pinks, grays, golds and polkadots!

Alt Summit Summer 2014 We each received a swag bag full of thoughtful gifts from Tiny Prints including this fab ipad case – thank you Tiny Prints! Alt Summit Summer 2014 Alt Summit Summer 2014 Alt Summit Summer 2014 One of the most fun parts of Alt is swapping business cards and there’s definitely an unspoken contest to see who brings the coolest cards.  One of my clear favorites was this sparkly gold card from Maison Confiserie et Boutique announcing their launch of Sucré – a cotton candy catering service – a sampling of their delicious homemade cotton candy was attached! I mean hello, feed me sweats and you are my favorite. Alt Summit Summer 2014 Alt Summit Summer 2014 Just a few of the amazing women I met:

Sam Pierson – an adorable & very talented photographer in SLC

Alix Adams of A Ruffled Life

Reachel Bagley of Cardigan Empire – fashion consultant

Trisha Antonsen of Wayfair

Briton of Rad Mom Cool Kid

Sarah Deragon of Portraits to the People

Alt Summit Summer 2014 Alt Summit Summer 2014 Each day of Alt is filled with discussions, roundtables & other fab learning experiences as well as some pretty major key speakers – we got to hear from Oh Joy, who recently launched her line at Target and the mother of all things creative – Martha Stewart herself.

The conference takes place each year at The Grand America in downtown SLC and my oh my how fancy I felt staying there.  What a beautifully luxe hotel that was the perfect mix of extravagance & hipness.  Alt Summit Summer 2014 Bing was one of the sponsors and they provided the coolest lounge ever – perfectly decorated & laden with inspirational message & fun activities. Alt Summit Summer 2014 Photographers & beautiful backdrops were available to update your headshot. Alt Summit Summer 2014 Alt Summit Summer 2014 Alt Summit Summer 2014 The second evening we treated to a block party complete with food trucks, a grafitti artist & break dancers. Alt Summit Summer 2014 Alt Summit Summer 2014 The intense majestic mountains took my breath away each time I saw them peak out amongst the city buildings – how great to live in a city where this is your daily backdrop! The evening light made them candy colored. Alt Summit Summer 2014 Alt throws a huge party the very last night as a farewell to all the attendees- they took advantage of the summer weather to throw an outside garden party and The Grand America’s interior courtyard proved to be the perfect spot.  Vibrant colors danced in the wind & lawn games & bicycles were provided for fun. Alt Summit Summer 2014 Another unspoken rule at Alt is that fashion is key.  Or at least its a good opportunity to bring along some more creative outfits – which is kind of my favorite.  Audrey made us our signature flower crowns so that we would stand out in a crowd and I wore this custom Blue Sparrow Bridal tulle skirt from our styled shoot at the Salt Flats along with the Agnes & Dora leggings I scored during Alt.  The more ridiculous the better in my book. Alt Summit Summer 2014 Again, we had the honor of working with Tiny Prints for this party – Audrey styled their adorable “photobooth” backdrop and I took photos!  Audrey fashioned paper flowers from their stationary, clever girl, and also made some handheld props for the photos. Elizabeth & Martin – Savannah wedding – Fragrant Garden + 10 Downing

Hooray for sweet couples and adorable weddings!

I hit it off immediately with Elizabeth and Martin, because, well duh – we totally have the same names!  It was sort of meant to be.  And I’m so glad because these two couldn’t get any sweeter or more adorably in love.  And they had the best wedding party + friends EVER.  I wish they lived here so I could adopt all their amazing friends.  (I’m coming to visit!)

The day started at the gorgeous Bohemian hotel in downtown Savannah where the ladies primped and I got to play with Elizabeth’s beautiful bridal details.  Elizabeth chose her invitations from Forever Fiancés, a great company that offers 100% recycled, green invites that have embedded wildflower or herb seeds so guests can plant them!  Coolest ever.

My favorite thing was this heirloom necklace that Elizabeth wore in her hair as her “something blue.” 10 Downing Savannah wedding 10 Downing Savannah wedding

I love it when couples choose the Fragrant Garden in Forsyth Park for their ceremony because it offers a level of privacy that the fountain or nearby squares do not.  Elizabeth made sure there were lots of charming details – love the fabric streamers! 10 Downing Savannah wedding 10 Downing Savannah wedding 10 Downing Savannah wedding 10 Downing Savannah wedding 10 Downing Savannah wedding 10 Downing Savannah wedding 10 Downing Savannah wedding 10 Downing Savannah wedding 10 Downing Savannah wedding 10 Downing Savannah wedding 10 Downing Savannah wedding 10 Downing Savannah wedding 10 Downing Savannah wedding

The reception took place in cute 10 Downing above Churchill’s Pub.  I love this space – but be sure to also reserve the outside patio for better dancing & privacy for your guests!

Elizabeth & Martin – thank you again and again for choosing me as your photographer – y’all are so kind of loving and I’m so happy to know you and your dear friends.  And really, when can I come visit?!

Ivory & Beau – lookbook – Savannah Bridal Boutique

Ivory & Beau is an amazing duo of two sweet and silly girls.  I say silly because they love gold dinosaurs, dancing like no one’s watching and no idea is too crazy for them (kitty bunting at your wedding? why yes, that’s amazing!)  And these are all the reasons why I and creative brides love them.  They offer really unique and highly customized wedding styling and planning and just this year, they opened up the most adorable bridal boutique in Savannah.  And as you might imagine, they offer a wonderful array of dresses for that bride who wants a little something different.  They offer independent designers like Sarah Seven, Faith Thornburg, Elaya Vaugn, Rebecca Schoneveld, Hushed Commotion, Jaclyn Jordan and Twigs & Honey.  I was lucky enough to shoot their Spring Lookbook and I am completely smitten with these images – Enjoy!

BIG news + Featured in Smitten + A Giveaway!

My life has been crazy this Spring – but totally good crazy!  My business has seen its busiest season yet and for that I am so grateful and excited!  But my silly butt was still holding on to my part time job the whole time.  Why?  Because its kind of frightening to let go off that consistent paycheck.  Its also a little scary to have to make your own schedule every day and keep to it! – that’s the hard part. I’m learning.  But I’m happy to say that May 30th was my very last day and for the first time in my life I can say that I am 100% self employed!!!!  It kind of feels awesome.

Of course as it always is, one of my biggest goals is get back into the swing of blogging regularly and having a consistent presence on social media because let’s face it, now I have the time and zero excuses.  So, first up is a long overdue THANK YOU to Smitten Magazine for publishing one of my shoots in their most recent, beautiful, ethereal Spring 2014 issue.  I’ve been in love with this magazine ever since its release and am so proud to finally grace its lovely pages!

I’ll be sharing this shoot in full later but for now, here is a glimpse!

Rebecca & Cargill married! – The Hyatt Regency Savannah

I couldn’t have asked for a sweeter couple to start my year off back in February.  Rebecca is effortlessly beautiful, Cargill is sweet and I just loved watching them overfill with love for each other, their children and their amazing friends and family around them.

My favorite thing was starting their day off with a few portraits of them with their son – loved this.
